For Those of You Who Have Ever Felt Like a Floating Brain

If true, it would mean that you yourself reading this article are more likely to be some momentary fluctuation in a field of matter and energy out in space than a person with a real past born through billions of years of evolution in an orderly star-spangled cosmos.
One thing I love about cosmology is its undeniable ability to completely blow your mind. There are many people, much smarter than I could ever hope to be, who spend their days (theoretically getting paid) coming up with and debating theories about how the most likely explanation of the cosmos is that we’re really just an infinite number of huge brains floating around in space. I’ve also always loved the seeming closeness between Zen and Physics (though, for some reason, I’ve ever been able to make it through The Tao of Physics). They both seem to keep coming to the conclusion that the world is nothing more than an illusion. Maybe this is the theory that the RIAA is operating under, and they’re figuring that if it’s all just an illusion, there’s really nothing stopping them from suing their customers. Though I guess that would have to assume that they have a brain, floating or not.

I am certain i am the science fair experiment of a fourteen year old japanese girl from Tokyo. A brain in a jar she’s kept me for the past three years as a reminder of her win in that years competition and to push the stimulation button from time to time to watch me wiggle. i really do appreciate that nuyen. from time to time i feel as though i am floating in space but then the slam of the top drawer sends me plummeting back to the reality to which i have become accustomed.
