Number one, everyone in Gov’t Mule is a friggin’ sweetie-- Warren Haynes is really such a kind and gentle soul… It was a real pleasure to get to play with them yesterday in Boston and the day before at Central Park’s Summerstage. It’s so great to really rock out, and these guys are professionals-- last night they kicked out the jams for three hours. That leaves me one satisfied rocker!
Also on these bills was Grace Potter and the Nocturnals out of Vermont. She’s a real talent-- bluesy, soulful, and a really great melodic sensibility… she sang with the Mule on “Southern Man”, and it was electrifying.
Playing Central Park was a dream come true for the band, and we’re ridin’ high, getting geared up to play Toronto’s Virgin Festival tomorrow. Whew! What a great way to start off tour!
Playing constantly in the van: Grand Funk Railroad, Steely Dan, CSNY, and of course Led Zep
And check out the recording I did this past June with members of my band Larune at The Echo Sessions—you can download 3 FREE TRACKS, and if you likey, then buy the rest of the session, which includes 5 Larune tracks plus 5 tracks by Finian McKean… or, if you come to an Earl Greyhound show on this tour, I’ll put one in your hand personally!
