Lf
Luff is known for creating lush soundscapes in their live shows, and they’ve captured their layered sound on their first full-length CD, Blanket Ice. Founded by songwriter Sheila Sobolewski (guitar, loops, samples, and vocals) and influenced by bands such as Mogwai, Yo La Tengo, and My Bloody Valentine, Luff has evolved from a guitar and cello two-piece to its full post-rock incarnation. Robin Pickering (former Triple Creme) lends her rock sensibility to the multi-layered guitar sound, Jonah Eller-Isaacs provides solid and playful bass riffs, and Dan Spagna (former Dew Claw, Building 6) is precise and engaging on the drums. Sheila’s sparse and minimal vocals convey a wealth of meaning with few words, and Luff’s music has a soundtrack quality that both soothes and captures the attention.
