Lucky was conceived by Myndy K and I. Malcolm Francis. Malcolm is Canadian and proud of it. He was born a skateboard and grew up on punk rock. He toured Canada and the US playing bass for a band called Skin Barn, opening for Urge Overkill, Green Day and Nirvana. In ‘93 he moved to the Big Apple lookin’ for trouble and started his own production company, Popular Beat Combo, making beats for MTV and VH1 and re-mixing tracks for artists like Etta James and Donna Summer.
Myndy K grew up on a musical goat farm in Vermont. Shortly after moving to NYC, she signed a record deal with Stricktly Rhythm Records (’96 to ‘99) during which she worked with the Berman Bros., Johnny Viscious, Eddie Baez and Hani & Dezrok to name a few. With 5 singles under her belt, including her #14 Billboard Dance hit “Moments,” Myndy K had a reputation on the underground music scene as one of the fiercest performers in club land. In ‘99 she sang backup for Dido on her first US tour, and it was then that she realized it was time to make a move.
After meeting each other in ‘00, Malcolm and Myndy were completely swept into the force they now call “Lucky.” They got together to work on one song and resurfaced 23 songs later knowing that what they’d been waiting for their whole lives was now upon them.

I wonder if there are any Demo tapes still available for Skin Barn, i haven’t heard them since grade 9.
